#pithypoems is my mental exercise after morning devotions. The goal is to summarize my day’s Bible reading in a short poem. And of course my hope is that the passage will stay fresh in my mind longer than the 2 seconds it takes to get distracted by a chiming inbox and neglected house projects and hungry toddlers.
A life of looking with little sense found.
The order we crave is rarely around.
Success falls on fools and evil abounds,
While souls ache in private & chaos surrounds.
Yet harmony calls and hope still resounds,
As we strive for the structure to which we’re all bound.
Our work’s not in righting all the wrongs that confound
But embracing the rule God has clearly set down.
And in our obeying our trust is profound
When we commit to the Judge who will sort and astound.
